This month’s edition is a week earlier than usual. Also, state membership is no longer required. Also, the format has changed to having two sections at Open and U1650 since most players prefer two sections, players will know what the format is beforehand, and it allows players to play up (for a $5 play-up fee). The prize fund is as follows: $300 based on 30 entries (any play-up fees are added to the prize fund and the prize fund is adjusted proportionally if there are a different number of players). Open section: 1st-$60, 2nd-$40, 1st U1850/unrated-$35; U1650 section: 1st-$60, 2nd-$40, 1st U1450/unrated-$35, 1st U1250/unrated-$30.

The tournament now has an increased prize fund and is a qualifier for the Challengers section of the Oregon Closed. Also, state membership is now required for Oregon residents. The cost of OCF membership has been significantly reduced but no longer includes a subscription to the Northwest Chess magazine.
