2020 Schedule and Results

All Portland Chess Club events as well as the major Oregon Chess Federation events and other major open events in the greater Portland area that are currently scheduled are listed here. For the calendar that includes other open events throughout Oregon (or close by), click here. For the calendar that includes other scholastic events throughout Oregon and Washington, which include some events that are run at the Portland Chess Center by other organizations, click here.

In addition to the events listed below, Friday Scholastic Quads, Casual Chess, and More occurs every Friday and US Chess Rated and Unrated Blitz occurs every Wednesday. (No quads, casual chess, and more on December 25. Any other cancellation of the quads, casual chess, and more or blitz will be posted on the PCC website). Notes: 1) The schedule is always subject to change. 2) The Tuesday Quads usually start on the first Tuesday each month. No Tuesday Quads in October due to the Club Championship. The April and May Tuesday Quads moved online due to the Coronavirus. The November Tuesday Quads start on the second Tuesday to avoid starting on the same day as the presidential election. 3) The Sunday Quads is usually on the third Sunday each month. The February Sunday Quads is on the fourth Sunday to avoid competing with the Oregon Closed. The March, April, and May Sunday Quads were cancelled due to the Coronavirus. The June Sunday Quads is on the second Sunday to avoid being on Father’s Day. The December Sunday Quads is on the second Sunday to avoid being on the same weekend as the Game in 60. 4) The Game in 60 is usually on the last Saturday each month. The March Game in 60 was cancelled and the April and May Game in 60 moved online due to the Coronavirus. The November Game in 60 is on the second to last Saturday to avoid conflicting with the Thanksgiving weekend and the Washington Class Championships. The December Game in 60 is on the second to last Saturday to avoid being on the day after Christmas. 5) The annual Clark Harmon Memorial Open rotates between Oregon and Washington every other year and is in Washington this year. The PCC runs the GM Arthur Dake Memorial Open in the year’s the Harmon Memorial is in Washington. Both Memorial tournaments moved online due to the Coronavirus. 6) The Portland Rapid and Blitz Championships is in June instead of July this year due to there being no good weekends for it in July. 7) All of the above tournaments are sponsored and run by the Portland Chess Club except this year’s Oregon Closed, Oregon Senior Open, and Oregon Class Championships which are sponsored and run by the Oregon Chess Federation. This year’s Oregon Open is co-sponsored and run with the Oregon Chess Federation.
