PCC Annual Membership Meeting
Notes: 1) Casual chess occurs every Wednesday. No casual chess on February 21, July 4, October 31, or November 21 due to the bad weather and holidays, respectively. Any other cancellation of the casual chess will be posted on the PCC website. 2) The schedule is always subject to change. The Oregon State Championship & Invitational was postponed from February 10-11 and 17-19 due to emergency circumstances and rescheduled for September 14-16 and 22-23. 3) The Tuesday Quads usually start on the first Tuesday each month. The January, July, and September Tuesday Quads start on the second Tuesday due to TD availability, to avoid starting right before the 4th of July, and to avoid starting the day after the Oregon Open finishes, respectively. No Tuesday Quads in October due to the Club Championship. 4) The Sunday Quads is usually on the third Sunday each month. The February Sunday Quads is on the fourth Sunday to avoid being at the same place and time as the original the Oregon State Championship & Invitational on the third and second Sundays and being on the same day as the Superbowl on the first Sunday. The April Sunday Quads is on the fourth Sunday to avoid being on the same weekend as the OSCF State Championship. The June Sunday Quads is on the fourth Sunday to avoid being on Father’s day. The September Sunday Quads is on the second Sunday to avoid being at the same place and time as the rescheduled Oregon State Championship and Invitational. 5) The Game in 60 is usually on the last Saturday each month. The May Game in 60 is on the second Saturday to avoid competing with the Washington Open on the last Saturday and being on the same weekend as the Sunday Quads on the third weekend (putting the Sunday Quads on the second Sunday so the Game in 60 could be on the third Saturday would have put the Sunday Quads on Mother’s Day). 6) The Unrated Rapid usually on a Saturday each month where we don’t have another tournament scheduled for that weekend. The March Unrated Rapid is on March 3 instead of March 10 to avoid conflicting with the Chess for Success Championships, the April Unrated Rapid is on April 21 instead of April 14 to avoid competing with the OSCF State Championship, and the May Unrated Rapid is on May 19 instead of May 26 to avoid competing with the Washington Open. No Unrated Rapid in July due to the Portland Rapid and Blitz Championships. 7) The Portland Spring Open is on March 24-25 instead of March 10-11 to avoid conflicting with the Chess for Success Championships and the 8th Annual Oregon Senior Open was moved to April to avoid being as close to the Vancouver Open and Oregon Open. 8) The annual Clark Harmon Memorial Open rotates between Oregon and Washington and is in Washington this year. 9) All of the above tournaments are sponsored and run by the Portland Chess Club except this years Oregon State Championship & Invitational, Oregon Senior Open, and Oregon Class Championships which are sponsored and run by the Oregon Chess Federation and the Vancouver Open which is sponsored by the Washington Chess Federation. This year’s Oregon Open is co-sponsored and run with the Oregon Chess Federation.
